Central Tilba is a picturesque National Trust village situated 363 kilometres from Sydney, between Narooma and Bermagui on the South Coast of NSW. This historical village is surrounded by mountains, one of them is Mt Dromedary was named by Captain James Cook in 1770. In 1852 some gold was discovered which started a small rush however dairying took over. Central Tilba became better known for creating the first cheese factory in NSW (The ABC Cheese Factory) in 1891. The whole colonial heritage village is preserved and has been named as one of Australia’s best heritage villages, it earned the National Trust Classification in 1974.
