Mulbring is a small village situated about 10kms south of Kurri Kurri. The nearest major town is Cessnock about 25kms north-west of Mulbring. The word “Mulbring” means Big Mountain in aboriginal.
The village was established in the 19th century amongst collieries and a lot of residents worked in the local timber mills, which were supplying the timber for the pit props in the local mining. Mulbring was also a stopping place for travellers going to and from Sydney to the Maitland and Newcastle areas.
