Lounging in the Coral (Great Barrier Reef) Original Oil on Canvas Board 41cm x 56cm – SOLD
Robyn’s Inspiration: “Green Sea turtles are important for maintaining the health of coral reefs as they help clear them of algae. Sometimes they just seem to be hanging around the coral rather than eating as I have portrayed in this painting. They are always a delight to observe when snorkeling. This painting is done from the great Barrier Reef which is a very different underwater landscape to Lady Elliot Island. The coral seems to be more colourful and varied with no lagoon where the coral beds appear flat topped. An amazing fact – remember the 13 phases the moon goes through in a year? Guess how many of those larger scutes you’ll find on every tortoise’s shell: 13! If you count the smaller scutes that circle the shell, you’ll discover 28, just like the 28 days between full moons”.
