The Ghan 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle
Hunter Region artist John Bradley painted the original scene for this 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. The puzzle size is 700mm x 500mm. The box it will arrive in measures 31cm x 19.5cm x 6cm. Made in Australia.
John’s painting depicts the modern Ghan being pulled by the two large diesel electric locomotives, NR74 and NR75. The train itself averages around 800 metres in length but can extend to as much as one kilometre. The locomotives carry the distinctive red livery of the Ghan and the symbol of the Afghan cameleer as a nod to the train’s origins. The journey from Adelaide to Darwin is 2,979 kilometres and takes approximately 54 hours to complete. The train travels at an average speed of 85 kilometres per hour and can reach 115 kilometres per hour when required. It is regarded by many as an Australian national treasure with visitors coming from all over the world to enjoy the luxury and unique scenery of Australia’s outback.
