Stephen’s Inspiration: “One of Australia’s most recognisable multicoloured birds, the Rainbow Lorikeet has the magnificent and awe-inspiring Rainbow Plumage that sparkles and shines even on the gloomiest of days. The beautiful enriched colour that seems to be perfectly placed with each feather seemingly complimenting the next. At my home we are always having some beautiful pairs of Lorikeets visiting our gardens daily, as they cannot resist in having feast on the nectar from the Flowering Gums and grevilleas we have growing. As I observe the Lorikeets, I notice they tend to always have one on the lookout, keeping a watchful eye on me as I make my way around allowing the other to settle in for a delicious snack. I wanted to create this moment in a painting and capture the beautiful pair and their unique colour combination that resemble an iconic Rainbow”.
