John’s Inspiration: “Some years ago, a crisp Autumn morning on the Megalong Creek yielded this striking scene complete with a Great Eastern Egret, perfectly placed as a focal point for a painting. As I watched he suddenly extended his long neck and dived into the water coming up with a small fish. A better fisherman than me. The Creek is quite shallow and the early morning sun is casting beams of light down through the foliage on the right side of the scene giving nice effects of light and shadow the sunlit Bluffs form a recognisable backdrop to the painting.”
