“Fallen from Grace” (Tarkine Tasmania) Original Oil on Canvas Board 51cm x 66cm
Robyn’s inspiration: “This painting of moss overgrowing fallen logs is one of my favourite subjects to paint – being in the damp of the Tarkine rainforest in Tasmania. The Tarkine is a beautiful area of cool, temperate rainforest in the North West of Tasmania. Since the 1960’s Tasmania conservationists have fought to have this area protected from native forest logging and mining. The area also includes wild oceans and dunes, plains of button grass and forest covered mountains. This habitat protects over 60 species of rare, threatened or endangered species. The Tarkine is an area of contention and is not an officially mapped area. The name Tarkine first came into mainstream use by the conservation movement around the early 1990’s. The name came from the ‘Tarkiner’ tribes that inhabited the area prior to European settlement.”
