Robyn’s Inspiration: “This painting was inspired from the deeper waters on the opposite side of Lady Elliot Island from the Lagoon. Here a lot more plate coral grows and light barely reaches some of the depths where the Manta Rays swim. Then suddenly a bank of coral will loom upwards from the depths adding colour and height to the scene – like an intricate underwater mountain. I watched this turtle slowly swim, suspended in the water above the plate coral, mesmerised by both it and the moving stripes of light beneath”.
