Stephen’s Inspiration: “Residing in the rural area of Louth Park NSW this pair of King Parrots were having frequent visits to my newly established native garden. This stunning pair were a standout, and I had anticipated painting them for quite some time and these encounters had only motivated me even more. Living in a rural setting with an abundance of old wooden fence posts each with its own story and charm is a real bonus for an artist. My vision in creating this painting was a pair of King Parrots would begin their day of exploration in the lower valley at first light. As the pair gathered on the fence post having discussions about the days coming activities, the warm slowly started to break up the foggy morning exposing the new day ahead.”
The Australian King Parrot is a species of parrot endemic to eastern Australia ranging from Cooktown in Queensland to Port Campbell in Victoria. Found in humid and heavily forested upland regions of the eastern portion of the continent, including eucalyptus wooded areas in and directly adjacent to subtropical and temperate rainforest. They feed on fruits and seeds gathered from trees or on the ground.
