Arid Traveller

Natalie’s Inspiration: “This guy was a bit of a challenge, but I loved working on this Monitor.  It’s been many years since I have created a painting featuring a large reptile.  While painting this I reflected on a fond memory from close to 30 years ago. I was on an inland road trip,  and stayed on a large property near Nyngan NSW. I had my camera and sketching materials with me to record as many references of the arid bushland.  I came across a sand monitor…. just sitting in the sun.  I remember watching him from a distance,  not wanting to startle him. A rewarding part of being a wildlife artist is to enjoy a little connection with nature”.
