Robyn’s inspiration for this painting “This painting was inspired from a recent trip to Central Australia where I tutored a painting group for two weeks – travelling and painting our way through the West MacDonnell Ranges. The white gums in the centre make an astounding contrast against the rich red of the surrounding landscape – particularly on the walk to Stanley Chasm which is quite breathtaking. I particularly love the contrast between the ruggedness of the surrounding cliff and the smooth white trunk, set back in the shade. I have visited this area many times but this is the first painting I have done from Standley Chasm. I really enjoyed painting this piece with its rich colours.”
