Stephen’s Inspiration: “The Regent Honeyeater has been affected badly by land clearing, fire, and climate change. Their loss of habitat forces them to be nomadic in search of flowering eucalypts of Box, Spotted Gum, and Ironbarks. Their current population estimated at 250-350 birds in the wild lists them as critically endangered.
“Regent Harvest” is a snapshot of this bird’s plight. I wanted this Lower Hunter Valley scene to capture a moment in time and complement the bird’s striking plumage foraging amongst the sparkling Spotted Gum blossoms. So many nuances of light and variety of textures highlight the elegant behaviour of this species.”
