Heath and Harmony – SOLD

Heathland Harmony (Common Heath and Blue Damselfly) Original Acrylic on Claybord 30cm x 23cm – SOLD

Natalie’s Inspiration: “The colours in this painting are so peaceful. The soft pink flowers compliment the Blue Damselfly perfectly. Everything in nature amazes me…the tiny flowers and leaves are stunning, the name “Common Heath” doesn’t suit at all. There is nothing ‘common’ about this beautiful native plant.

I was approached by Ashdene to paint a series of artworks featuring Australian Floral Emblems. I jumped at the chance to create something a little different in subject. Flowers are not my usual subject to paint, especially as the main focal point. I also decided to sneak in an insect (other than my usual trademark ant), so this series was as much fun as it was challenging!! A very weird combination emotionally, but very rewarding. This series is destined to be published on homewares including bone china coffee cups, scatter trays, tea towels, placemats and other items. They will be released later this year.”

Natalie’s real love is painting small animals, native to Australia.  She completed her Associate Diploma of Fine Arts at Newcastle University.  She was born on 16th April 1971 and is a young artist with a bright future. Natalie has over 70 images and counting reproduced onto mugs, trays, jigsaws, tea towels, placemats and coasters, distributed throughout the world by giftware company Ashdene Australia. She is the author and illustrator of 32 children’s books and has her work reproduced onto calendars, prints, tea towels, jigsaw’s, placemats, coasters and materials introducing her work to a much broader cross section of the public rather than just the lovers of fine art. She has won several International Art Awards. Natalie remains one of Australia’s highest profile wildlife artists.  Natalie’s works will continue to increase in value are a great investment.
