“Adelina Falls” (Lawson Blue Mountains) Original Oil on Canvas Board 41cm x 61cm

Robyn’s inspiration: “Occasionally I love to paint a waterfall just for the sheer joy of being there in my head. This painting was one of those occasions. It is a beautiful spot in the blue Mountains surrounded by rainforest and the dampness a waterfall brings – with a small pool at the bottom.  I loved the cool colours, the muted light and the challenge of painting the falling water.  The waterfall was named after Adelaide Mary Wilson (1850-1898) – was known as Adelina – the daughter of Henry and Sarah, who were the owners of the original Blue Mountain Inn in Lawson. It was re-named Livingstone Falls in the early 1870s after journalist Henry Morton Stanley located the missing missionary David Livingstone in the wilds of Africa in November 1871. The name reverted to Adelina Falls by the 1890s.”
