Robyn’s Inspiration: “It’s always enjoyable to be painting the magnificent dunes of our coastline in Australia. This time I have opted for a different format just for a change. It enables me to see a subject in a totally different way. I was particularly drawn to the vibrant light I have portrayed in this painting. It’s essential to be on the dunes at just the right time, which is mostly early morning or late afternoon when the shadows are long. This same subject would be bland and uninteresting at midday, with no shadows. Many of the dune areas I paint require a 4 wheel drive because they are many kilometres along the beach – not always in a convenient place to access unfortunately”.
