Views from the High Dunes to Dark Point (Hawks Nest) Original Oil on Stretched Canvas 107cm x 30.5cm – SOLD
Robyn’s Inspiration: “Dark Point is a prominent piece of land jutting into the ocean at the Hawks Nest Beach. It is also known as Little Gibber and is in the Myall Lakes National Park. I have been painting this area for over 25 years and every time I see it the dunes have shifted into new shapes and there are new paintings before me. A few years ago, massive storms flattened the dunes and sucked a lot of them into the ocean. I particularly wanted to paint this subject as it typifies the area so much. High up in the back dunes you can see the panorama stretching to Dark Point with the ocean backdrop. I wanted to feel the space and enormity of the dunes and a few footprints where people have ventured. I just had to paint this as a long panorama to do the subject justice. Afternoon light is always the best on the dunes and you can see the blue haze just beginning to creep across the sand”.
