Ramon’s Inspiration for this painting: “The Avenue des Champs Elysees is the most famous boulevard in Paris where elegant boutiques and sophisticated cafes are to be found lining both sides of its wide tree lined pavements. Standing at the top of this beautiful boulevard is the Arc de Triomphe, commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte to commemorated his victory at the Battle of Austerlitz in 1805.An April morning in Paris and the morning sun is breaking through the clouds, highlighting the stonework of the Arc de Triomphe and reflecting onto the pavements where the flower baskets decorating the entrance to the street side café create a splash of colour to this very Parisian scene.”
