Have Your Photos Scanned – Morpeth Bicentenary Celebrations

Help Morpeth keep the memories alive.

Bring your Morpeth photos, postcards, documents and have them scanned.  Newcastle Herald journalist & book author Greg Ray will be on site at St James Hall (corner of Tank & High Streets, Morpeth), over the weekend to scan photos from Morpeth and surrounding districts for inclusion in the Morpeth Museum & Newcastle University photographic archives.

If Greg & Sylvia Ray get enough interesting photos of people, activities, buildings, the 1955 flood, wartime, transport, events, unique individuals… from the last 200 years, they may compile them into a new photographic book.

Morpeth has played host to an amazing array of festivals and events over the years.  Perhaps you have a photo or two from a jazz festival, corn pickers picnic, horse races by the river, honey, chilli, gourd or vintage farm machinery festivals.  A number of personalities have also visited Morpeth/Maitland over the years: Prince Charles & Lady Diana, Ivan Lendl, Marcia Hines, Jon English & Super Hubert to name just a few.  Do you have a photo?

A photographic display of Historic Morpeth will be set up in the church hall for visitors to view.  Entry is free.
