Born in Suffolk in England, in an area renowned for its natural habitat and landscape artists, Roger took an early interest in observing wildlife and drawing from life. After moving to Australia in 1976 he studied Commercial Art before devoting himself to painting Australian native birds.

Roger works from life and field sketches where ever possible, painting mainly in acrylics and using airbrush work to achieve softness and atmosphere in the backgrounds. The birds in the foreground are painted with fine sable brushes. Roger has won several major awards at Wildlife Exhibitions throughout Australia including Wildlife Art Society of South Australia (Gould Award), Wildlife Art Society of Australia EW Fitzpatrick Bird Observers club award. Peter Fox Award (W.A.S.A.), Campbellwell Rotary Exhibition Melbourne.

He has exhibited widely in Australia and recently overseas at "The Mall Galleries" in London. Roger's original work has been reproduced as Limited Edition prints and also an extensive range of gift cards. This has helped to establish his name in the wider community as reputable wildlife artist.

Fifteen of his original paintings, all of Australian native birds, have been printed as gift cards which are sold throughout Australia in gift shops, tourist outlets and news agencies. Roger has six limited edition prints released onto the print market and these have been heavily promoted in South Australia and Victoria. The very fine brush work which Roger is renown for shows in his paintings of Australian birds which feature every feather in minute detail.

It is this accuracy that has made him a substantial name as a bird specialist. This South Australian based artist has already carved out a strong art career specialising in native birds and his continued dedication to this field of art will make him a very collectible artist in years to come.
