Artist Werner was born in Austria
in 1943. In 1950 Werner with his family migrated to Australia where his father
established an importation business bringing in hair care products for many
hairdressing saloons. Whilst Werner is by trade a hairdresser his great love
of his new country inspired him to paint. At first painting was just a hobby.
However A growing reputation coupled with the crisp, refreshing style Werner
has created, has bought him considerable sales success, particularly with
investment conscious art buyers. More recently Werner was forced to devote
more and more time to his father's business and so less and less of his paintings
were seen on the market place. However a chance meeting with one of Australia's
greatest art marketers and promoters, saw Werner's work being refocused into
painting.
Werner's work is sold through selected galleries and the art print market.
He is mainly self taught and is a dedicated traditionalist artist painting
mainly in oils and specialising in rural and coastal scenes. He loves to paint
Sydney Harbour. This has seen many of his paintings go to overseas homes as
tourists see Sydney's wonderful harbour and beach views and then want a painting
to take home.
Lately Werner has incorporated figurative work into his paintings. What makes
this work different to most figurative artists is that Werner uses his landscape
skills to place the figures of girls and ladies into natural landscapes. Thus
you have the best of both worlds, a lovely figure and a landscape or seascape.
Werner's unique style has always been popular with art lovers but as a result
of the subjects he paints they have an almost magnetic attraction for overseas
visitors. As a result a large percentage of his paintings adorn the walls
of homes in many countries throughout the world. Until now most of Werner's
work has been sold through galleries in Sydney and from an Annual exhibition
at Kings College in Sydney where his children attended school. He is now a
patron of the college.
Now his work is only being sold through six selected investment galleries.
During his exhibitions in our other capital cities and has won numerous awards
and highly commended citations. He has been selected to have his paintings
hung and has won awards at the Sydney Royal Show on numerous occasions. With
many thousands of entries received each year, only the very best are chosen
to be hung at this show and to win an award is an honour indeed.
Painting professionally since 1971, he has had numerous exhibitions in Sydney,
Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. Many have been sellout exhibitions. Werner
is a member of the Royal Art Society of NSW and a Fellow of the Australian
Institute of History and Arts.
